Amid all the debate over whether Singapore really is the world’s most expensive city, I came upon this article that said Luanda (above), Angola’s capital city, is one of the world’s most expensive cities. In fact, some studies actually rank Luanda as the most expensive city in the world.
Little did I expect a city in the country rated by The Economist as one of the worst places to be born in, to be such a costly place to live. One normally associates high cost of living with highly developed countries, but this article reminds us that this is not always the case.
One way in which I ensure that my knowledge is broad enough to handle the multifarious nature of GP is to spread my reading geographically. Thus I ensure that I read about all the different continents of the world to gain a broader, truly global perspective. Africa and South America are not often covered in the Straits Times, particularly in the Prime section, so it is good to read a top-class foreign newspaper, such as The Independent or the New York Times, online from time to time.
